On November 2, 2016, after 26 days of marriage, my husband told me that we were moving…to Tokyo. At the time, we were living in Little Rock, Arkansas where Dan was stationed as a Pilot in the Air Force and I was finishing up my 3rd (and final) year of law school. I was already living the farthest away from home that I had ever lived in a place that I never thought I would call home. Then I heard the word “Tokyo.”
At the time, I knew approximately 3 things about our new home-to-be: it was on the other side of the world (literally), it was enormous, and Hello Kitty lived there. That was it. “Terrified” was an understatement.
After moving through both the stages of denial and the grieving process, I decided to open my mind – and my heart – to this adventure. Here is the story.
